Raise you hand if you have ever been in this position. You get what you thought was a solid lead, you do everything you think you are supposed to. It all feels right.

Only to find out this lead has decided to use someone else as their trusted real estate professional. It’s just an absolutely devastating feeling we’ve all had.

Am I right? I speak speak to hundreds of agent a week and 9 out of 10 times they will have a very similar crushing story.

However, in today’s story we have a happy ending that will hopefully make you smile and realise that sometimes all it takes is patience and a kind heart.

Taylor is a new agent I think a lot of us can learn from. She is not only helpful as a real estate professional, but truly has her clients best interest at heart.

She is building her business through social media using educational content that can be seen by thousands of people in a day.

I think you’ll truly enjoy this story from the ups to the downs and the final ending that will put a smile on your face like a kid that finally got that piece of candy you’ve been wanting to eat since you walked into the grocery story.

Taylor Phillips is a Prattville, Alabama real estate agent that proves that being a new agent doesn’t mean you can’t bring life experience, empathy and compassion to help you relate to people and generate business at the same time.

Her proven process is a winner and accessible to you and this is her story.

“I first met my clients through social media, specifically Facebook, in November 2022 and we made it to the closing table January 2023.

We ended up chatting on the phone during what I consider the initial “interview”.

She and her husband were talking with several different realtors trying to find the best fit for them.

Well during this time she continued to chat with me here and there and I continued to send her helpful advice.

For instance I sent her over a map that shows which places are the safest to live and which places to avoid in her search area.

I sent over a first time homebuyers guide and I made sure she was on the right track with her lender.

I even made sure she was set up on an email search, just so she was constantly seeing my face and my name, I wanted to continue to be at the front of her mind.

I would check up on her from time to time to make sure they didn’t have any questions and to let her know I was there for them.

Time went on and I sort of felt defeated…

Time went on and I sort of felt defeated, trying to figure out where I fell off because at this point I realised she didn’t pick me.

Was it because I was too young? Was it because I came on too strong? I never wanted to be the pushy sales agent.

A few weeks went by and her number pops up on my phone!!

She starts off by admitting she went with another agent, but that she made the biggest mistake.

She wanted to go with the agent who boasted about all the deals she’s done for the year on Facebook, thinking she had more experience.

Well turns out this agent never answered the phone and didn’t make her feel seen once she gained her as a client.

We signed an agreement and she ended up working with me and we got a house under contract a few weeks later.

They respected the way I nurtured them, especially since they were first time buyers. They wanted someone who wouldn’t make them feel uncomfortable for asking a million questions.

They loved my effort and honesty throughout the whole process!

Communication and listening was key, and now we are great friends!

I remember we sat on the patio of a house I showed them and just talked for an hour, and I listened and acknowledged their feelings.

The process can be stressful, it’s a huge deal buying a home, so just being there not for the money but for the client is EVERYTHING.”

Tips from Taylor

To build as a new agent is hard! I stay consistent on social media and instead of posting like pick me as your agent, I provide valuable information.

Things people don’t know about the home buying and selling process.I also keep in touch with my sphere on influence.

You have to reiterate that you are an agent ready to work for them or their friends. And don’t give up! It takes time to get your name out there and the ball rolling.”

Taylors Future Plans

Taylor says she is growing her business organically and hopes to switch over to real estate full-time this year. She stays active on social media and keeps up with reels on Instagram to steadily bring in new people. She has her own Facebook group of houses for sale in her area to generate leads and she believes you can find success as a new agent if you are dedicated and consistent.

Her niche is mostly first-time homebuyers and people in their 20-30s.
